For those who have beautiful curls
Got Curls
Understanding your hair
Curly hair has its own rule.
1. It comes in many shapes and sizes.2. It can be incredibly dry or intensely moist.
3. There is no end to the selection of colours that are available.
The main point is there are two kinds of curly hair, manageable and unmanageable. Curls that are manageable can be left natural where as impossible curls need to be styled and pampered.
Choosing the right products
Products for curly hair come in two types, one for Control and the other for Styling. There are so many wet styling products for curly hair which will help to maintain curl. It is important to know what you want your curly hair to do and this will make choosing the right product a whole lot easier. Ask your hair stylist to recommend the ideal product. It is a different story if you are trying to style curly hair. Using all kinds of rollers e.g. Bendy Rollers and Self Hold Rollers you can even out any kind of curl to make it more manageable. You can even use radial brushes to soften curls or a Paddle Brush and Thermal Straightener to straighten your hair and achieve a completely different look.
Tip: Put on a Hair Net while your hair is drying to reduce the weight and to pick up the curls. When you take the net off and gently shake your hair and you will have beautiful contained curls.
For those who want to add Volume & Waves
There are two easy ways to add volume and curl to any style.
1. Directly after blow-drying, wind 2cm x 5cm sections of your hair around a Ceramic Self Holding Roller starting from the ends and rolling all the way to your scalp.
Tip: If you want more body use large rollers and if you’re after waves or curls use small rollers.
When you have finished, blow-dry on high to heat the rollers. Ceramic rollers are excellent at absorbing heat so using these set your style for longer and cut the time needed for the curls to set. Once heated allow rollers to cool, take them out and… wha-la volume and curls!
2. When blow-drying use Ceramic Radial Brushes and once a section of hair is dry, wind the hair around the brush and leave until the hair is cool. Remove brush and you’ll get shiny bouncy hair. You may need a few brushes but this is the trick pros use in achieving longer lasting volume and soft curls.
Tip: the larger the brush the more the volume but less curl there is.
For those who desperately want Curls
Achieving Sculpted curl
1. To achieve the ultimate sculpted curl use Bendy Rollers. Hair must be towel dried and apply some gel or mousse through the hair.
2. Blow-dry hair, focussing on the root area, until it’s almost dry.
Tip: For the best results, use a thermal styling spray in the hair before drying.
3. Once drying is complete, start by sectioning the hair at the nape of your neck (Lady Jayne Section Clips will help to keep the top section of hair out of the way) and starting from the tips, wind the hair around the centre of the rollers. To secure, twist the ends of the rollers around each other (hence their name, Bendy Rollers!)
4. Work the rollers from the back of your head through to the front, remembering the way in which you roll the hair will influence the way the hair falls.
5. Once the rollers have been in for about 20 minutes, take them out starting from the back and unwind the rollers away from you.
6. Set with some hair spray and your set!
Choosing the right products
Always select products that are right for your hair type. If unsure always consult you hair stylist who can recommend the right products for you as there are so many products in the market nowadays.
- Once you have created curl on straight hair do not use any other product that will wet the hair, as this will spoil the curl.
- On dry hair, sprays and gloss products works well on man-made curls.
